Coach Frank is so awesome! It’s both my partner and I first surfing experience and also first time in Hawaii. Coach Frank took time to go through everything with us and use time and energy to make sure we are able to stand up on the board! We booked semi private session that should be 1.5 hrs; however I kept got lost due to my swimming skills coach Frank took quite a bit time to bring me back to right direction 😅In the end we probably spend around 2 hrs and my husband actually stood up on the board which is super exciting! Coach Frank knew it was the first time we came to town that he recommended nice restaurants nearby that we can check out too. I would recommend everyone who wanna try surfing lesson with coach Frank. The price is unbeatable and coach is super patient and friendly! ~ jessicaaa3711

He taught our 9 year old how to surf in her very first lesson. Then he helped her transition to a shorter board and learn how to make turns. Our daughter had so much fun, and she looks forward to taking more lessons with Coach Frank the next time we are in Oahu! ~ J O

The surf lesson was a Christmas present to my husband, and he LOVED it! It started on time and Frank's instruction is thorough and includes a board tutorial and flexibility/stretching session. He provided all equipment necessary-I'm glad because we forgot my husband's reef walkers at home. We paid for a group lesson, but my husband was the only person there. I thought Frank would have cancelled, but he did a private lesson for my husband, and he had an amazing time. Because of Franks instruction, my husband feels comfortable surfing after only 1 lesson-he caught some waves!! Frank's knowledge of the sport produces results. There are several places to take surf lessons on Oahu, but I'm very happy with our decision to go with Blue Ocean Breeze. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!!! ~ Dana S

It doesn’t get better than coach Frank. My son Owen (6) just finished a set of 10 lessons with blue ocean breeze and it was such a positive experience. He was very nervous going into it but coach Frank has a way of connecting with the kids and making them feel safe and confident. He really knows surfing and took time to build a good foundation and correct along the way so that the kids had a good pop up and good form to build upon. He was always so professional and courteous and we really enjoyed our experience with him. Our son definitely learned a lot and improved over the 5 weeks. I highly recommend blue ocean breeze and we will be taking more lessons to continue to grow in surfing. Thank you so much coach Frank and coach Alex! ~ nate j

Coach Frank was very professional and knowledgeable. I was nervous at first because I did not know what to expect when I got to the meeting place, but coach Frank instantly made my nervousness disappear. With a quick but detailed run down on the properties of a surf board, quick explaination on what was paddle in and paddle out, standing techniques, and balancing before we took to the ocean. I have little to 0 surfing experience and on my first wave that he put me on I was able to stand and surf it all the way! Will definitely go back and would recommend coach Franks surfing lessons to everyone. Just be prepared to be super tired after the surfing lesson from paddling lol. We had an amazing time in Frank's lesson and would definitely return. My family took a private group lesson (kids aged 12 and 13 years), and none of us had surfed before. We all got up our first time (my kids and husband for much longer than I did 😜) and regardless of how many times I fell over it was SO FUN. The dry land instruction was so helpful. I loved the yoga/Pilates gentle warmup - I could have done that all day 😄... that really helped me to understand what I was supposed to do. Frank also provided helpful pointers throughout, and also made sure we were safe in the water. We did the lesson early in our trip and by the end of our ten days and all our activities, this remained everyone's favourite. We are so grateful! ~ Carmen

My first lesson with Coach Frank was such a great experience!! I had done one other surf lesson in the past, but Coach Frank’s lesson went above and beyond that! He taught us all about the fundamentals of warming up and having the correct position on the board before we even got in the water. This made us feel prepared, and definitely paid off once we started catching waves! I stood up on my second wave and felt confident to catch waves on my own by the end. Coach Frank was there to cheer us on and give very constructive feedback on how to get better, stay safe, and respect everyone in the water around us. Coach Frank was able to get me on countless waves during my first time on a surfboard! During my lesson, I was able to stand for the overwhelming majority of the session, and caught SO MANY WAVES. He taught me the importance of body strength and mobility, then focused fundamentals of the surfboard and how to navigate it. Once we got into the water, he coached me through the waves and got me standing in less than 3 waves. As the session progressed, I got more confident and Coach Frank taught me how to stand up faster and even how to read the waves. Coach Frank is more than just a surf instructor. He understands the value of on the ground health and happiness. I really enjoyed his friendly demeanor and his teaching style. He even offered to help me find spots to surf and equipment for when I get back home. ~ Chris C

Frank is very professional, friendly and a great communicator. We booked the session online, got the confirmation later in the mail, showed up at Ala Moana beach for my daughter's lesson. The lesson started with a warm up, he told us about his background, they did some dry land work and then they were ready to go to the water. She was able to catch a bunch of waves and had a ton of fun. The only complaint was that her arms were hurting this morning after so much swimming. But she's ready to go back and do it again. I'm a beginner surfer (being surfing for 2 months now) and he told me that he also has lessons that can help me with the transition to the short board and working on some moves. I had an awesome time surfing with Blue Ocean Breeze Surf School! My boyfriend and I did a group class with one other student, all of us very new to surfing. Coach Frank was extremely friendly, professional, and knowledgable, and gave us a solid rundown on technique before getting in the water. The area he took us to on Ala Moana beach was perfect for beginners, not too crowded and lots of waves. I caught the very first wave he had me try, and even caught a few on my own by the end of the lesson! He also gave us recommendations on what and where to rent if we wanted to try again on our own. Coach Frank is an incredible instructor! Since moving to Hawaii, I have had at least 4 different surfing teachers, and he is the absolute best. I’m not JUST interested in having a one-time fun experience (which he provides), but I also want to get good enough to surf on my own. Coach Frank definitely prepares me for that. His knowledge of the ocean and its behavior is vast, and he teaches me about surfing, as well as other ocean sports and activities. He’s had over a decade of coaching experience with all different types of people, and you can definitely tell - because when I have anxious moments on the water, he is so calming and helps me to get past my own nervous feelings. I am definitely not a risk-taker or thrill-seeker, so I’m really grateful to coach for making me feel more confident and stronger in my surfing abilities. We put our kids (9 & 12) in a week of surf camp with Coach Frank. Our kids are not always easy, and I think Coach Frank and his team earned their money that week. But he was clear and fair with expectations and hung in there. My kids had a great time and their skills improved quite a bit. I would recommend Blue Ocean Breeze for anyone looking to expose their kids to surfing or just get their kids active and in the water. I liked that they spent a lot of time in the water. In fact, they spent so much time on the boards I would make sure your kids have really good reef booties (like O'neill Superfreak 2mm) and very proper fitting rash guards. With the soft top boards, the kids get a lot of chafing. And you may even consider a 1 mm wetsuit top or a shorty wetsuit. The trade winds can make it cool when wet all day. I had an amazing surf lesson in Hawaii with Frank, the owner, and it was everything I hoped for and more! As an intermediate surfer, I was looking for a challenge beyond the basics, and Frank delivered with a private lesson tailored exactly to my skill level. He’s got a deep knowledge of the local breaks, and thanks to his guidance, I was riding waves almost immediately. Frank focused on refining my technique and helping me read the waves better, which made a huge difference. I highly recommend Frank to anyone that is looking for surf lessons. I booked a private surf lesson with Frank for my 10 years old son. Before getting into the water, Frank went over the basics of surfing. He was patient, respectful, and communicated well. He made sure my son had a good understanding before getting into the water. It was pretty cool watching them surf and seeing my son catch some waves. He had the biggest smile when they came back. Frank is great with kids. He is very personable and friendly. I booked the group private surf lessons for my husband, sister and 5 years old son. Coach Frank was amazing and also very good with kids. He started off on land and was very detailed with explaining the parts of the boards, learning how to move on the board, and stretching. He made sure to explain how to fall into the water and how far they had to paddle to avoid the corals. My son was very nervous about going that far out in the ocean but Coach Frank kept him calm and made sure he was safe out there. Although it was quite the upper body workout my husband and sister was not prepared for, they had a great experience and are talking about booking with Coach Frank in the future. ~ Kimchi T

Coach Frank made learning to surf so fun! Being out of shape I was nervous to take on the waves, but the motivation and positive energy Frank had made the whole experience so enjoyable! My partner and I were complete newbies to surfing and with the help of coach Frank we were both able to get up on every wave! The prices are great for the quality of instruction. We accidentally booked our lesson 2x for the same day and of course he was going to remedy the double payment, but we had such a good time we decided to go back for another lesson! If you’re in Oahu and want a quality surf lesson with a fantastic instructor I highly recommend. ~ Rebecca M

We LOVE Blue Ocean Breeze Surf school! Our daughter just finished 10 lessons with Coach Frank and Coach Alex and we can’t believe her improvement. Not only has her surfing improved but her confidence out on the water and her passion for the sport! Both coaches are sooooo great with the kids, they make it fun while maintaining safety. Several children in the group started out nervous to even get on a surfboard and today they were riding long waves and even riding the line! Surf lessons were always the highlight of my daughter’s week! We loved it so much that our son will be starting lessons with them next! ~ Ayo L

We did a seven person group surf lesson on our trip to Hawaii. We chose Blue Ocean because of their flexible time slots and the excellent customer service I received from Frank over the phone. He was delightful to speak to and returned calls promptly. Ivan and Matteus were our instructors. Two young and polite gentlemen with a passion for the sport. Reef boots and rash guards were provided and very helpful. They did their training thoroughly and quickly which gave us a ton of time in the water. Everyone was able to get up and catch as many waves as we had the stamina for. Highly recommend this wonderful team. Thank you guys! ~ Jake O

I just finished the level two surfing program with Blue Ocean Breeze Surf School. It was a great experience. Coach Frank is incredibly passionate and knowledgeable about the sport. He is able to pinpoint exactly what needs to be corrected with your surfing form and provide helpful adjustments so you are able to improve immediately. He is very enthusiastic throughout the entire class and always cheers you on. He pushes you to your fullest potential and makes sure every class ends on a good wave. I'd highly recommend him to anyone that wants to learn how to surf. I will be continuing to his level three program. ~ Bre R

Coach Frank is a patient coach who is extremely focused on safety and having fun at the same time! He starts off the session with offers of sunblock, a fun warm up, and theory session. I had a new board for the lesson too! I booked the 8am slot for a group rate and was the only one and yet he didn't ask me to change to the next session where there were other participants. He is professional like that! He is encouraging and constantly giving tips. He made sure I rode as much waves as possible, especially the last one, he didn't want to leave without me standing on the board once more before we returned to shore! ~ ML F
